Maliko = Awesome!
I purchased a Maliko Fin to pair with a Hydro 88 paddle. I wasn't well rehearsed on fins prior to this, but I can tell you a performance fin - the Maliko specifically- does make a difference. I glide incredibly smoothly on a 14' Riviera and it tracks very straight. I've been able to increase the # of strokes on each side therefore saving time by not switching over as frequently. My drop turns are very stable with this fin as well. The fin looks great and the difference is noticeable. Chris was very quick to answer questions and has an awesome thing going on there at Black Project.

Maliko Fin keeps my dry!
I used my new Maliko fin in a race yesterday on my Starboard Allstar. It was a game changer. While people were flopping all over the place, I was dry on my board. The conditions were insane, and I definitely would have been in the water with a different fin on. I spent a lot of time chatting with Maureen and Stanley from Long Island about it, Chris fromOne Love Beach, and Pat from California. They all guided me correctly to this amazing fin. Thank you to all, and Chris F. f rom BP for setting me up with the best, and correct equipment!

Love the Maliko
This is my first fin from Black Project and it arrived a few weeks back. I've been out a handful of times because it's been rainy, windy and cold here in SF and I haven't wanted to spill without a wetsuit...but the Maliko is my friend! It's on a 2018 Starboard Allstar 14x26 and it seemed to have bumped up the secondary stability of the board by an order of magnitude and feels like a little bit more gas in the tank when I get on a wind bump. Have not had a chance to race or ride with it in real surf yet but I can't wait. I'm sure it's a champ. Thank you Chris!

Maliko V2 SUP Fin
Tracks really well in flat water and adds that extra bit of stability in light chop on a narrower board. Also, first rate look and feel to construction.

Maliko V2 on Allstar
Got the fin today. Thanks for the fast shipping. I put the fin on my 2017 14' x 24.5" Starboard Allstar and paddled it this afternoon and noticed a big difference in the tracking and I was able to get 5 to 7 more strokes per side. Totally flat water no wind. I only went 2 miles but noticed more speed with less effort. Also tracks much straighter from dead stop. The back of the board doesn't push out as much on initial acceleration which gets me going quicker straight. Looking forward to paddling in wind and chop to see performance. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for making a great fin.

Maliko v2
Just installed a Maliko v2 on my 14' SIC FX14 Pro. The fin is a game changer for my setup. First thing I noticed was how much more energy I was developing per stroke. That resulted in better glide in the flats, and should translate i to better flat water race results. Next, I took the board out on a mellow downwind out in the Atlantic. It glided great through the bumps and I turned particularly well when moving laterally to connect. Can't wait to compete with the fin and it will def be in my bag when I come out to Maui for my first Maliko this March. Great fin.. Stoked!!

Maliko v2 Respect
After much research and feedback from Chris Freeman I decided to get the Maliko and have been super excited with the decision. I noticed the lift and tracking instantly while paddling Lake Michigan. I have used it in flat water and chop and it excels in both. This fin lived up to all the hype and research I came across. It's hard to believe that a fin can change the dynamics of my paddling so much. The Maliko has handled everything and increased my confidence. Looking forward to using it in my first race of the season next week. Chris Freeman replied to all my questions instantly and the fin arrived quickly. Much respect to Black Project for creating a one of a kind fin. It checks all my boxes: stability, tracking, increased speed, and turning ability. Can't say enough good stuff about my new choice in fins. Go out and grab one!

Maliko v2 + Naish Maliko
The performance of the board changes completely, after many tests with different models I think I found the best fins. I`ve benn testing in diferents conditions, downwind, choppy, flat water and in all conditions is impresive track and stability provided.
Tthe quality is guaranteed, used materials, weight and finish are the best I've found. Waiting to start the new season 2017 to compete with this.

FIns Matter
Bought a Maliko fin last year. Must admit I am a bit of a fin snob. I like matching fins to board and conditions to maximize board performance and minimize my weaknesses. The Maliko seemed a logical addition based on reviews. Little did I realize it would essentially replace all my other fins due to its performance in all conditions. Stable, fast and sheds weeds. Easy to pivot turn. Most importantly, the fin actually changes the way your board glides through the water. The "lift" effect is not hype or so subtle that only pros can appreciate. I immediately noticed the nose riding higher which extended glide. Taken together, this fin should be on your board. You will not be disappointed.

Awsome Fin!!!
After 4 weeks of research on line for fins and trying different fins that I personally own on my 14" Kawai-Kai SUP board I decided to purchase the MALIKO fin. I have been very impressed with the fin for it’s maneuverability, tracking and stability. The fin allowed the SUP board to be super stable in the ocean with the boat wakes and trade winds where I live in Hawaii. The fin gave me enough confidence to go out China Walls here on Oahu with success! The fin came in quick and Chris was available to answer any questions I had about the fin.

SUPERB QUALITY, TRACK AND STABILITY
Chris recently sent off to Switzerland my Maliko fin! Out of the box, it looks impressive, very high quality material and finishing. Fits perfectly in the USbox, strong and solid. My first thought beyond its high quality appearance, is been, this is a big size fin! Out the water, i've testing the fin in both chopping and flat water conditions. Chopping, lateral and front. Considering lateral waves (moderate size in a lake), the fin has provided a lot of stability. I've been testing it first in a 12.6 long inflatable board and have "navigated" without any problem and without feeling the board was ready to throw me away!. I have to say, that this feeling is specially appreciated, mostly, because falling n Lake Maggiore, where now in winter water drops to 5 degrees Celsius, would not be very pleasant. After this first test, I've to say that I've gone out to the lake with much worse conditions feeling secure and stable. Considering speed, my tests in flatwater have been extremely positive. Watching at my GPS I've seen that I was reducing at least 5 seconds/km. That's is great, considering that over the last month and a half, I've been in the "dry dock", so, after losing some fitness, improving my previous results is promising. I had not expected this speed specially considering the size. Turns, easy and very secure too. Definitely a fin everyone should try and get. Apart from that, another thing which is highly appreciated is how Chris is responsive and take care of his customers' needs and enquiries. 100% quality product, 100% quality customer service!

Makiko V2 + 14' Riviera DW
I am an intermediate level paddler and have been using the MALIKO V2 Pro Carbon SUP Race Fin on my 14’ Riviera downwind board. The Rivera downwind board has a heavy rocker profile and did not seem to track well with the stock fin. After installing the Maliko fin the first noticeable difference I felt was with increased stability and much better tracking. I am now able to get 10 strokes per side. Paddling downwind, upwind and in calm waters, the Maliko fin has given me more control and increased confidence in stand up paddling. As I paddle with friends on their race boards, I’ve noticed that I can usually keep up to their pace despite not paddling a racing style board, the fin design with less drag has added speed. The fin design and construction is top level. All in all I love the Maliko fin and it looks awesome too. Highly recommend it.

MALIKO V2 + LK Manta 12'6 ROCKS
part 2 test : Maliko V2 carbon --- AMAZING ease ... planes my board earlier and the more I push and hip drive the board, the faster it goes ... headwinds... no worries. And fast corrections when power paddling, just step back a little and turn. No real need to deep tail turn board -- very precise and balanced.
Amazing foil for my MANTA 12'6.
I am experimenting with a new paddle stroke to maximise the board speed and last longer, loading and unloading the paddle. So Fun.

I have noticed the Maliko really helps me drive the board forward with less effort, even in choppy harbor water, gives me confidence to keep going.

Definitely get this radical fin for your SUP board if you're serious about performance. Besides, it looks very aggressive on my baord when I'm transporting it to water...

Maliko
The first thing to notice about the Maliko fin is how superbly crafted it is; everything else seems amateurish by comparison. More important is its performance. It completely transformed my 14' Infinity Whiplash. In testing I immediately noticed an average speed gain of .6 mph over the stock high-performance fin. My best guess is that the carefully studied foil shape of the Maliko provides such an efficient release that drag is reduced. I could see this in the wake of the board, which was reduced dramatically after installing the Maliko. That change allows me to move fore and aft on the deck more freely without generating a turbulent wake. In addition the board responds better to rail steering when holding a line. Flat water, chop, open ocean, fast pivot turns -- the Maliko is outstanding.

Maliko
I've been very impressed with the Maliko fin on my Focus Bluefin. It's noticeably fast and the tracking is pretty good as well. I usually end up paddling in mixed swell and choppy conditions, but when there are ridable bumps I can feel the increased glide that comes from the speed of this fin. I can definitely tell when I am paddling in a group that I am putting out less effort to keep pace and as the cadence picks up I'm able to increase my gap over other paddlers. It's a ridiculously good fin. I'm picking up another for my Bark Downwinder.

Maliko
This fin WILL improve your boards performance. Without a doubt. I've used it on 4 uniquely different boards, and they all had the same performance enhancement. 11' displacement, a 12'6" and 2 different 14' displacements. The Maliko improved projection in every case. To the point where you can feel the difference. With more projection your board will be thrust forward with each stroke instead of slipping sideways. It's not just about tracking, it's a speed improvent. Of course tracking is improved along with strokes per side.
As for down wind, I couldn't be more impressed. I feel the board glides with more ease as it picks up a bump, And the added projection reduces unwanted nose steer when piercing the next wave. Also, I feel a little more control over the tail of the board as if I can maneuver the tail on the wave.
This fin excels in flat water and downwind.

SUP Maliko Race Black Edition
I finally purchased my Maliko race fin and I don't know why i waited so long. Immediately out of the package I noticed the high quality production and sleek flat finish.

On my initial run with the Maliko race fin I put it through 15-20mph winds, converging currents and some shallow weed beds. The fin performed phenomenally. The fin tracked great and delivered excellent stability. Pivot turns were amazingly easy. The Maliko race fin responded to all conditions perfectly.

I highly recommend the Maliko race fin to anyone looking to step up their game.

Battle of the Thames 2015
After much delay I finally got to try out the Maliko fin at this weekends Battle of the Thames race.

I have to say that I was very suprised with the extra tracking and stability this fin provided, especially at the start of the race amongst all the chop and wash from the other boards. During the race I found I was able to use more paddle strokes on each side before switching, and it was very easy to remain in position when drafting. I managed the 10 miles in 2 hours 8 minutes which I’m very pleased with considering the wind conditions and chop. This left me in 35th position overall, 12th in class and 3rd in the Masters Division. My first ever Stand Up Paddle race podium.

Maliko & Tiger Fins
Since a long time I was looking for a fin who can add that little extra stability at my JP Flatwater 12.6” x 25”.Past month I had the opportunity to do a quick test on flatwater with the new Maliko & Tiger Sprint.

Most of the narrow race boards are very unstable, especially at a standstill or at low speed. With the Maliko you can immediately feel a big difference: the board feels more stable and more comfortable. With this extra stability I can put more power in my strokes and the only thing I have to do is concentrate on my technique. In the river where I usually train there floating often weeds and trash, especially after heavy rainfall. With a rake of 45°, no problem to get through and to keep my speed.

The BPF are also very resistant to big impacts. A few weeks ago, during training, I hit some stones at full speed. I was afraid that the fin would be completely destroyed or worse, that the fin box came out of the board. The only thing that happened was a very small distortion in the front of the fin :-) I was really surprised!

The Tiger Sprint offers also a very good tracking: I can paddle much longer on the same side. With a 3 mm thinner profile (compared with the Maliko) and only 20 cm long, it’s possible to do incredible short pivot turns. The reduced length results also in quicker beach starts: it’s possible to jump earlier on your board without bury in the sand and paddle faster away.

I couldn’t believe that changing a fin would make so much difference, but now I’m convinced!

My choice for 11 Cities & World Series Races
The SXP Maliko 24cm Race is my fin of choice! It has the fastest shape and it is very versatile, from downwind runs to flat water or beach races. Compared to last year's fins it has more surface area which gives you more directional stability so you don't need to change sides paddling that often if you don't want to and you can paddle in straighter line = faster. The rake of the fin is perfect, nice for a downwinder and you have peace of mind that no weeds get stuck during your run. I have been using and testing this fin for 4 months now and this is the fin I use for the 11-city or the world series races. Aloha, Bart de Zwart (3 x SUP Awards Nominee)
